Good brain function is so important. The brain is the master control system of the body, when it isn’t functioning at its best you surely feel it throughout all the body systems.
Most people meet chiropractic care in their lives because they are experiencing some type of pain. After starting care they start to realize their body is functioning better in other ways.
The most common “side-effects”
– increased sleep and quality of sleep
– better digestive system function
– increased muscular strength
– increased immune system function
– improved memory
– improved mental clarity
….. the list goes on.
So how does this happen?
For a long time chiropractors having been seeing these effects occur in their office…. but we haven’t always known the process that allows these benefits to occur. Last year the Spinal Research Foundation released an exciting press release about Chiropractic care and brain function.
βWe do know that spinal function does affect brain function. Thereβs now solid evidence that adjusting the spine changes brain function.” Dr. Heidi Haavik
AGAIN… ADJUSTING THE SPINE CHANGES BRAIN FUNCTION.
So where in the brain are these changes occurring?
βThe latest study suggests that the changes that we do see in the brain when we adjust the spine do occur in the prefrontal cortex. That part of the brain is like the conductor in the brain.
This is solid scientific evidence that adjusting the spine changes the way the prefrontal cortex of the brain is processing information from the arm. It demonstrates we change the way the brain works and shows that spinal function impacts brain function. One of the most interesting things about the changes we observed was that the prefrontal cortex is responsible for behavior, goal directed tasks, decision making, memory and attention, intelligence, processing of pain and emotional response to it, autonomic function, motor control, eye movements and spatial awareness.β
– Dr. Haavik
The prefrontal cortex is responsible for so many important body functions, as stated by Haavik. Some of the most important is the control of autonomic function. Your autonomic system is your constantly functioning nervous system in control of your involuntary organ systems. Proper function here helps the heart, lungs and digestive organs function the way they are suppose to.
Bottom line. If you want your body to function at its best then you need to have good spinal health.
